‘Cocaine and weed’ hustler claims framed on armed robbery charge

A self-confessed “cocaine and weed” hustler, who insisted that he was being framed, was yesterday remanded to prison by acting Chief Magistrate Priya Sewnarine-Beharry at the Georgetown Magistrates’ Court after he was charged with robbery under arms.

It is alleged that Eon Archibald of 155 Campbell-ville Housing Scheme, while armed with a knife, robbed Adina Swano Dasilva of one gold chain valued $170,000 on January 21.

Police Corporal Venetta Pindar, prosecuting, told the court that on the day in question the defendant approached the virtual complainant (VC) on Camp Street and held a knife to his waist. Being threatened by this, the VC handed over the item when it was demanded.

When given a chance to speak, Archibald explained that he has been involved in trafficking. “I does hustle cocaine and weed,” the man said. When asked by the magistrate if he was aware that this was also an offence, the man promptly said, “yes, but I telling yuh the truth… I innocent, de police framing me.” The man went on to say that the police “cowboy me” and that he will go to the minister himself. “They ain’t find nothing on me! Please for bail,” he begged. The court was told also that the accused has pending matters and had violated his present bail.
The man was remanded until February 1 for statements.
