Mon Repos murder accused appears in court

More than two months after police issued a wanted bulletin for Mark Gobin he appeared yesterday before the Sparendaam Magistrate’s Court arraigned for murder.

Gobin of Lot 180 Fourth Street, Mon Repos North, East Coast Demerara was not required to plead to the indictable charge when it was read to him by Magistrate Judy Latchman.

It is alleged that on November 6, 2010 Gobin murdered Kawal Outar at Mon Repos, ECD.

The accused has been remanded to prison and the matter continues on February 11.

On November 11 last year police had issued a wanted bulletin for Gobin. The accused, police had said, was wanted for questioning in relation to Outar’s murder. Gobin, a senior police source told this newspaper, turned himself in to police on Tuesday in the company of his attorney. Reports had alleged that Gobin, following an argument with Outar, had beaten the man with a metal object. Outar died at the Georgetown Public Hospital.
