Liat to look at finances

The financial position of Liat is expected to become clearer after a meeting of shareholder governments in St Vincent on Wednesday.

The country’s Prime Minister Ralph Gonsalves is due to host his counterparts from Barbados and Antigua and Barbuda.

Antiguan media have reported that dozens of workers could lose their jobs at the airline as a result of financial losses.

The three leaders will also look at a proposal by Trinidad-based Caribbean Airlines, to begin a service into the Eastern Caribbean, where Liat is the dominant commuter carrier.
