Man charged over damage to Banks DIH glass door

A man, who was charged with unlawful and malicious damage to property, yesterday appeared before acting Chief Magistrate Priya Sewnarine-Beharry at the Georgetown Magistrates’ Court.

It is alleged that on February 15, Gavin Caesar of 227 East Ruimveldt Housing Scheme, unlawfully and maliciously damaged a glass door, worth $22,600, property of Banks DIH Ltd.

The man, who pleaded not guilty, told the court that on the day in question he went to purchase some tea and a woman threw some ice at him.

He said he had a bag in his hand and accidentally walked into the door; the bag’s impact onto the glass, broke it.

The matter was transferred to court 6 for February 28 and the accused was placed on bail in the sum of $25,000.
