CANU finds ganja in container from Jamaica

Ranks of the Customs Anti-Narcotics Unit (CANU) on Monday last intercepted a quantity of marijuana in a container at the John Fernandes Wharf.

According to reports, some 200 lbs of compressed marijuana was discovered by the CANU officers in the container on the wharf on Monday morning following a tip off. The container arrived on these shores from Jamaica some time last week.

CANU Head James Singh, when contacted by this newspaper yesterday, stated that indeed there was a drug bust at the location on Monday but he could not comment on the matter. He noted that investigations are ongoing.

This newspaper understands that several persons are being questioned in relation to the discovery of the illicit drug.
