Probation report ordered on bicycle thief

A man who admitted to stealing another’s bicycle was yesterday granted bail in the sum of $25,000 and a probation report was ordered pending the determination of the matter.

Shawn Gobin, a labourer of Canje, Berbice accepted the simple larceny charge which stated that on Tuesday at Georgetown, he stole one bicycle valued $14,000, property of Carlon Barker.

In presenting the prosecution’s facts of the case, Sergeant Lionel Harvey said that on the day in question, the complainant had parked his cycle outside a shop and  went to purchase an item when the accused rode away with the bike.

According to Harvey, the complainant who saw Gobin then raised an alarm which led to his subsequent arrest and charge.

Gobin was ordered to return to court on March 1.
