GWI restores service to Cummings Lodge, Turkeyen

Guyana Water Inc. has restored service to the Turkeyen community, including the University of Guyana as well as all sections of Cummings Lodge, the company said in a release yesterday afternoon.

GWI said further that work is continuing in order to fill the service gap which remains after the malfunction of the Turkeyen Number Two well, which is servicing the areas.

GWI’s Water Resources Engineer Shimbhudyal Naitram said, “We are working around the clock to have the Cummings Lodge well station operational.”

The new well station at Cummings Lodge is expected to restore the level of service to its previous standard and will also serve customers of Sophia. “Priority is being given to all customers affected by the malfunction of the Turkeyen Number Two well,” added GWI’s Executive Director of Operations Joseph Coddette. “We are monitoring Turkeyen, UG and Cummings Lodge to ensure that adequate water service remains whilst the Cummings Lodge well is under construction.  We are asking our customers for their patience and cooperation as our technical teams work towards restoring service to normalcy,” the company added.
