Food and Drug Dept recalls drugs

The Government Analyst Food and Drug Department is advising the public that it has recalled several batches of Apo-Levocarb and Apo-Atenol used to treat Parkinson’s disease and hypertension/angina, respectively.

The drugs are manufactured by Apotex Inc, Canada, a press release from the Department said. The Apo-Levocarib 250mg/25mg tablets were recalled because during stability tests it was determined that the impacted batches might not have met the dissolution specifications over shelf life. The affected batch numbers are JG3287, JK2746, JK2567 and JK2615.

The 50mg Apo-Atenol tablets were recalled because some of the tablets might have exceeded established product specifications. The affected batch number is JM7658.

Importers, distributors and consumers who have these products in their possession are asked to return same to the Department at the Institute of Applied Science and Technology building at the University of Guyana Turkeyen Campus.
