CANU intercepts cocaine in parcel at airport – was destined for Canada

Ranks from the Customs Anti-Narcotics Unit (CANU) on Saturday afternoon intercepted a small parcel, at the Cheddi Jagan International Airport, destined for Canada with 1.3 kilos of cocaine.

A senior CANU officer told Stabroek News that the box was posted from an out-of-town address through the Guyana Post Office and was destined to be transported to Canada on Saturday.

The officer said investigators are still attempting to locate the persons who posted the box and so far they have learnt that the address and the identification used to post the box were both false.

“But we are still looking for the individual…,” the officer said.
