Masked gunmen escaped with millions in cash and gold after raiding a house at Industry, East Coast Demerara.
Police say they are investigating an armed robbery that occurred at about 02:30 hours today at Industry, during which gold miner Codwington John , 27 years, was attacked and robbed by two men, one of whom was armed with a handgun.
Investigations so far, police say, have revealed that the perpetrators gained entry into the victim’s home and held him at gunpoint. They then took away a bag containing $3.7 million, a quantity of raw gold and a diamond stone, along with a cell phone and escaped in a waiting motor car.
Investigations are continuing.
