VC in ‘Cobra’ case unable to say who shot him during scuffle

The trial commenced on Tuesday into the matter for which Tyrone Rowe called ‘Cobra’, Aman Lalchand and Dwayne Critchlow are jointly arraigned for robbing Troy Collins.

The virtual complainant (VC) took to the witness box and testified about the March 1, 2010 incident in which he was allegedly robbed by the defendants of a quantity of jewellery he was wearing.

Collins in his evidence explained that he was shot during the scuffle with the three men in their bid to relieve him of the jewellery.

He pointed out, however, that “since it was a scuffle” which ensued, he was unable to say who shot him in the process.

Police Corporal Venetta Pindar told the court that the witness might be recalled.

The matter continues on April 29.

The allegation against the trio is that on March 1 at Orange Walk, Bourda, George-town, being armed with a gun, they robbed Troy Collins of a quantity of gold jewellery and other items to the tune of $1.4M.

Since the incident, Critchlow for whom an arrest warrant has been issued remains at large.

Rowe and Lalchand are prisoners.

In November last, Rowe was charged alone for the offence. The charge was, however, later withdrawn from the teenager and reinstituted after which a joint charge along with the other two defendants was read.

At that time, Lalchand too was still at large but was eventually apprehended by police.
