Man dies in Orangestein accident

The police are investigating a fatal accident that occurred at about 0930h today at Orangestein, East Bank Essequibo, which resulted in the death of Steve Rogers, 53 years of Side Line Dam Beterverwagting, ECD, and injuries to a child who was in his company and whose identity is so far unknown.

According to the police, investigations revealed that Rogers and the child, who is about four years old, were passengers in motor car HB 7763 which was proceeding along the Orangestein Public Road, when it is alleged that another motor vehicle swerved across his path causing the driver of motor car HB 7763 to lose control of the vehicle and collide with a bridge.

Rogers and the child were taken to the Leonora Cottage Hospital where Rogers was pronounced dead on arrival while the child was treated and referred to the GPHC in a stable condition.
