Three years for woman with cocaine in Crazy Glue pack

A woman who pleaded guilty to possession of narcotics for the purpose of trafficking was yesterday fined $30,000 and sentenced to three years imprisonment by Magistrate Hazel Octive-Hamilton.

The allegation against Simone Samuels is that last Saturday at 348 Cummings Street, Alberttown, she had in her possession 3 grammes of cocaine for the purpose of trafficking. When the charge was read to her at the Georgetown Magistrates’ Court, the defendant pleaded guilty.

According to the prosecution’s facts on the day in question ranks from the police narcotics branch were conducting raids around Georgetown, when they received certain instructions around 11:00 hrs. As a result, they proceeded to Lot 348 Cummings Street, Alberttown, where a search was conducted on the defendant, and a Crazy Glue container was found in her right front pants pocket. The court heard that on checking the container in the defendant’s presence, a creamish, rocklike substance suspected to be cocaine was found. The defendant was arrested after being told of the offence, and was taken into custody, where the substance was weighed and found to be 3 grammes. The defendant was subsequently charged.

When asked by the magistrate if she had anything to say, the defendant calmly stated no.

She was then fined $30,000 and given the three years sentence.
