Spragga away but says willing to help Jamaica police in probe

(Jamaica Gleaner) Dancehall star Carlton ‘Spragga Benz’ Grant is yet to turn himself into the police after being named as a person of interest, but that is because he is overseas.

Grant was named a person of interest and requested to report to the East Kingston police by two yesterday afternoon following a triple murder in the McIntyre Villa area of the division on Friday.

But yesterday Grant told The Gleaner that he is on a tour of the United States and has been there for sometime.

According to Grant, he is willing to assist the police in their investigations.

He said while he is abroad his legal team will deal with the matter.

On Friday, 49-year old Peter Escoffery otherwise called ‘Stumpy’ of McIntyre Villa, Kenique Richards known as ‘Runkus’ of a Lincoln Terrace address and another man who is yet to be identified were fatally shot by gunmen.

The police report that the three men were among a group of persons at a shop watching television when men alighted from a motorcar with high-powered weapons and started firing.

When the shooting ended it was discovered that Escoffery, Richards and the other man were shot.

Richards died on the spot while Escoffery and the unidentified man died at hospital while being treated.

Spragga said while he is abroad his legal team will deal with the matter.
