La Penitence man remanded over theft of grandfather’s money

A 22-year-old was on Wednesday remanded when he appeared before Magistrate Hazel Octive-Hamilton at the Georgetown Magistrates’ Court to face a charge of simple larceny to which he was not required to plead.

It is alleged that on April 22 at Middle Road, La Penitence, Georgetown, Kevin Gordon stole $150,000, property of Huburn Gordon, his grandfather.

Police Corporal Venetta Pindar, prosecuting, stated that the virtual complainant and the accused reside at the same address and asked that he remove from the home.

The defendant then said that he has no other place to go and Magistrate Octive-Hamilton ordered that he be kept until he finds somewhere else to live.

The defendant was then remanded until Friday and the bail application was suspended.
