Cops probing reported kidnapping of Unity girl

The police are investigating the alleged kidnapping of an 18-year-old Unity Village, East Coast Demerara girl, who went missing since Wednesday following which a relative received a text message demanding ransom.

According to a release from the police this afternoon, Loretta Persaud called ‘Stephanie’ was reported missing to the police yesterday.

Police investigations so far have revealed that the teenager left her home at about 09:30h on Wednesday for computer classes at Middle Street, Georgetown, and has not returned home since.

During yesterday a relative received text messages demanding a ransom of $300,000 for her safe return. It comes on the heels of the police probing the kidnapping of two other girls who went missing in the Yarrowkabra area on Tuesday.
