Three teachers chopped in attack at Charlestown school

Irate relatives of a 12-year-old student stormed into the Charlestown Secondary School and attacked teachers with cutlasses yesterday, resulting in three teachers having to seek medical treatment.

Police have launched a probe into the incident which occurred at around 3:40pm yesterday. Police said in a press statement that it is alleged that the student was assaulted by one of the teachers and he went home and returned with his armed relatives.

“Investigations revealed that the student was allegedly assaulted by the teacher who he claimed had hit his head against a concrete wall in the school,” the release said.”The student went home and returned to the school with his mother who was accompanied by some male relatives armed with cutlasses. They then attacked teachers, Patrick Bourne, who was chopped to his head, Tristan Prescott, who was also chopped to his head and Cliffon Johnson, who was cuffed to her face, after which they escaped,” the release said.

The three injured teachers and the student were taken to the Georgetown Public Hospital for medical treatment. Investigations are continuing.
