Man held over unlicensed shotgun at No.58

Police arrested a man on Saturday following the discovery of an unlicensed gun and matching ammunition at Number 58 Village Backdam, Corentyne.

In a press statement issued yesterday police reported that ranks on patrol in the area searched a camp at about 12pm that day. An unlicensed 16-gauge shotgun and three matching cartridges were found.

The man, police said, has remained in custody assisting with the investigations.

Meanwhile, members of the Joint Services yesterday searched a camp in the backdam at Maida, Corentyne,  Berbice, where an unlicensed 12-gauge shotgun was found.

Investigations are in progress.
