Woman chopped during Norton St robbery

The police say they are investigating an armed robbery that occurred at about 1220h. today at Norton Street, Georgetown, during which miner Abdool Sattaur, 25 years, and Patricia Edwards, 19 years, were attacked and robbed by three men armed with a firearm, a cutlass and an ice-pick.

Investigations, according to the police, revealed that the victims were at home when the perpetrators entered through an open door and held them up. They then took away their jewellery during which Edwards’ mother Shelly Lake put up a resistance and was chopped to her forehead, after which the men escaped.

Quick response by the police following the receipt of the report led to the arrest of the three suspects in the Le Repentir Cemetery. They are in police custody assisting with the investigations.

Lake, according to police, was taken to the GPHC where she is receiving medical attention.
