Linden child put out of exam over no apology to teacher

A Linden parent is calling for action by the region into an incident where a student of the Wisburg Secondary was denied the opportunity to complete an end-of-year exam because she refused to apologise to a teacher.

The teacher believed that the child in question had taken her bike. The parents and police intervened and the bike was subsequently recovered. The school’s head pulled the child out of the exam because she refused to apologise to the male teacher over the matter, reports say. The matter was raised at a PTA meeting and several teachers objected to the action taken against the child.

Region 10 Chairman Mortimer Mingo says an investigation was launched into the matter and a report is due tomorrow. He said he did not see the appropriateness of denying the child the opportunity to write the exam.
