Two men are in police custody after they reportedly attacked and robbed a man at knifepoint of a quantity of articles in Bartica early yesterday morning.
Police said in a press release yesterday that about 00:15 hrs, Ramchand Pooran, 40, of Lusignan, East Coast Demerara, was attacked and robbed of cash, jewellery, a watch and two cell phones by two men, one of whom was armed with a knife, at First Avenue, Bartica.
The police responded promptly to the report and acting on information received arrested two suspects. The stolen jewellery, watch, and cell phones were found in the possession of one of the suspects.
Charges are expected to be made shortly, the release added.
