Michelle Richards, who police say was the target of a murder attempt by her brother-in-law, yesterday took the stand at the ongoing preliminary inquiry (PI) into the charge.
Richards testified at the continuation of the PI into the charge against Malvin Taylor, who is accused of attempting to murder her and his wife, Sharon Taylor, who is Richards’ sister.
The inquiry continues on July 26.
Acting Chief Magistrate Priya Sewnarine-Beharry is presiding over the matter at the Georgetown Magistrates’ Court.
The allegation is that on January 26, at Quamina Street, Georgetown, Malvin Taylor attempted to murder the sisters by discharging a loaded firearm at them.
On the same day, the defendant, 34, of 51 ‘D’ Field Sophia, is accused of discharging a loaded firearm at Aubrey Smith, with intent to maim, disfigure or cause grievous bodily harm to him.
He had been denied his pre-trail liberty by the presiding magistrate. However, his attorney, Nigel Hughes, subsequently made a successful application before the High Court, securing bail for him in the sum of $600,000.
Taylor has not been required to plead to the indictable charge.
