Bouterse urges Caricom to invest in Suriname natural resources

(De Ware Tijd) PARAMARIBO – The invitation by President Desi Bouterse to CARICOM member countries to help invest in developing Suriname’s natural resources will only serve to further strengthen mutual ties, says Natural Resources (NH) Minister Jim Hok. The President made this proposal to the region during the 32rd Heads of Government meeting which was held in St. Kitts recently. According to Bouterse, developing countries have been sharing their natural resources only with multinationals from the industrialized world for far too long. The region should not invest not only in mining, but in agricultural production as well.
