Tattoo artist remanded on wounding charge

A tattoo artist who allegedly wounded another man was remanded to prison after making an appearance before acting Chief Magistrate Priya Sewnarine–Beharry, at the Georgetown Magistrates’ Court Monday.

The allegation is that on March 6, the defendant Mark Fidel of Lot 80, Brickdam unlawfully and maliciously wounded Knaire Alexander.

Police Sergeant Lionel Harvey said on the day in question, Alexander and the accused were on Regent Street when an argument began and subsequently a fight broke out. The accused, who allegedly had a sharp instrument in his possession, inflicted several stabs to Alexander and subsequently made good his escape, Harvey said.

The defendant was later seen on July 8 and he was arrested and taken to the police station where he was pointed out by Alexander. He was later charged.

Bail was not granted to the man and the matter was transferred to Court Two for report and fixtures.

Fidel is expected to make his next court appearance on August 18.
