Venezuelan on unlicensed gun, ammo charges

The Venezuelan man nabbed on Wednesday morning with an unlicensed gun and matching ammunition at Eteringbang Landing was on Friday remanded to prison, after appearing at the Georgetown Magistrates’ Court.

The allegation against Oswald Mansoue Flores Montilla is that on July 20, at Eteringbang Landing, Cuyuni River, he had in his possession a .38 revolver and 12 rounds of matching ammunition without licences.

He pleaded not guilty to the charges of unlicensed possession of firearm and ammunition when they were read to him by Magistrate Hazel Octive-Hamilton.
The prosecution successfully requested that the accused be remanded to prison and the matter be transferred to the Kamarang Magistrates’ Court for September 19.

No facts of what transpired on the day in question were presented to the court.
Police had said that acting on information received, around 04:00 hrs on Wednesday they conducted a search on the Venezuelan national at Eteringbang Landing, during which the revolver and ammunition were found in his possession.
