Teenage girl shot dead in Jamaica

(Jamaica Observer) SANTA CRUZ, St Elizabeth — The community of Junction in South East St Elizabeth is in shock following the shooting death of a 17-year-old girl close to her home last night.

Residents and family members named the victim as Roshelle Chin, who graduated last month from the Manchester High School.

One resident told the Observer by telephone that the teenager was attacked and shot three times in the head and body as she walked from a neighbour’s house sometime after 9:00 pm.

The victim’s mother said she was at home at about 9:35 pm when she heard her daughter scream out and then heard gun shots. She ran out of her house to see her daughter lying in the grass with blood all over her head about 10 chains from home.

Parish Councillor for the Junction Division Cetany Holness (JLP) expressed hope that there will be a thorough investigation by the police and that the killer will be brought to justice as quickly as possible.
