City man remanded on unlicensed gun, ammo charge

Magistrate Hazel Octave-Hamilton remanded to prison a man accused of having in his possession an unlicensed gun and a quantity of ammunition, after he denied the charges when they were read to him in the Georgetown Magistrate’s Court.

The allegation against Edmond James is that on July 30, at Georgetown, he had in his possession an unlicensed .38 revolver and five rounds of unlicensed .38 ammunition.

When the magistrate asked him if he had any special reasons to advance to the court for his pre-trial liberty to be considered as it relates to the offence and not him; James said that he had nothing to say relating to the charge.

Police Sergeant Lionel Harvey then requested that the defendant be remanded to prison since no special circumstances were presented to the court for the granting of bail.

No details of what transpired on the day in question were presented to the court.

James was ordered to appear in Court One on September 13.
