Buxtonians benefit from health outreach

Over 150 residents of Buxton over the weekend benefitted from dental care, eye screening, testing for blood pressure and glucose content and voluntary counseling and treatment services when the Ministry of Health and the Buxtonians 4 Life Group held an outreach at the community’s health centre.

A release from the Government Information Agency (GINA) said that the health outreach – which was held as the village celebrated its 170th anniversary – was conducted by two Cuban doctors from the Diamond Diagnostic Centre,a lab technician and an ophthalmologist. In addition, a team from the Cheddi Jagan Dental School provided the services of examinations, extractions, filling and cleaning of teeth.

Coordinator for coastland communities and nurse, Carol Joseph was quoted as saying that the outreach will become a regular feature and they would attempt to have additional services provided.
