No arrests in La Penitence, Goed Fortuin robberies

No arrests have been made in two high-profile robberies that occurred over the weekend.

Bandits on Saturday morning launched a bloody attack on a family that had just returned from the Cheddi Jagan International Airport, injuring two men before escaping with two bags from a motor car that was about to turn into the family’s Middle Road, La Penitence home.

Sathram Persaud, 42, was on Sunday evening discharged from the Balwant Singh Hospital, where he was rushed with a bullet injury to his right leg, while his cousin, Prem Persaud, 28, was grazed by a bullet to his neck. Prem was treated and sent away the day of the incident. The bullet that hit the older Persaud passed through his leg and left a hole in one of the car seats.

ellular phones, a camera and a quantity of jewellery on Saturday evening at his Lot 24 Lancaster Avenue, Goed Fortuin, West Bank Demerara home, said police have made no progress in the matter.
The man had recently told Stabroek News that on the night of the incident, he along with his wife and son were downstairs catering to customers when nine armed robbers showed up, seven of whom invaded his shop. The family and customers were beaten and robbed during the 15-minute ordeal.
