Pouderoyen labourer put on bail in wounding case

A labourer, charged with unlawfully wounding a woman, was yesterday placed on $85,000 bail at the George-town Magistrates’ Court.

It is alleged that on July 25, at Georgetown, Earle Peters, 30, of Lot 31 Pouderoyen, West Bank Demerara unlawfully wounded Delanie Green with the intent to maim disfigure or cause her grievous bodily harm. Peters was not required to plead to the indictable charge of felonious wounding, when it was read to him. No facts of what had transpired on the day in question were presented to the court.

The prosecution had no objection to bail but asked the court for the accused to be granted bail at a substantial sum, to ensure that he returns to court. The matter will be called again on October 18, at Court One.
