North Vigilance man shot in confrontation with police

At about 1100h. today,  police say that members of a mobile patrol at Vigilance, ECD, saw Dwayne Critchlow, 28 years of North Vigilance, ECD, who was wanted for questioning in relation to the investigation of an incident during May 2011 where, while armed with a firearm, he had threatened a policeman at Plaisance, ECD.

On seeing the police patrol,  Critchlow began to run and was pursued by the police during which he pulled out a firearm and discharged rounds at the ranks who returned fire, police said.

He was later found in a house at Friendship North, ECD, with a suspected gunshot injury to his left arm and has been admitted a patient under guard at the GPHC, police said.
