Barbados clean in bribery scandal – football chief

(Barbados Nation) When it comes to accepting any FIFA bribe money, count Barbados out, this country’s football chief Ronald Jones has declared.

Speaking publicly for the first time since the sport’s world governing body FIFA last week summoned two Barbados Football Association (BFA) officials to Switzerland to give testimony to its ethics committee, Jones was adamant that Barbados’ hands are clean.

Jones, the BFA president, was speaking yesterday in the Party Stand at Prescod Boulevard, St Michael, on the special draft day of the country’s richest semi-professional tournament, the LIME Pelican Football Challenge.

“I can say without fear of contradiction that Barbados did not participate in any activity that would have brought footballers or the Barbados Football Association into any disrepute for this country,” Jones said to the large crowd.
