Phlebotomist on ganja charge

Phlebotomist Candacie Haniff, 28, was yesterday charged with possession of cannabis.

It is alleged that Haniff, 28, of Lot 22B Hardina Street, Wortmanville, was found with five grammes of cannabis at the National Stadium on August 12. She denied the charge of possession of narcotics when it was read to her in the Georgetown Magistrates’ Court yesterday and she was granted $20,000 bail by Magistrate Hazel Octave-Hamilton.

No facts of the case were presented to the court.

Attorney Adrian Thompson requested that his client be granted reasonable bail on the grounds that she had no antecedents, posed no risk of flight and had a fixed address. The prosecution had no objection to bail.

The case was transferred to Court One for October 24.
