A Bartica woman was killed on Tuesday night and police arrested the suspect today.
Donna Lakeram, of Bartica, was stabbed and strangled by a man at Semang, Issano, police said in a statement.
Stabroek News has learnt that the incident occurred around 11pm. The two had been drinking and an argument later broke out between them.
Police received a report of the incident at about 10am today, and ranks responded and went to the area, where the suspect was arrested.
A team of investigators has been despatched to the area to continue with further investigations, police added.
