Engineer Mel Sankies died suddenly last night at a city hospital.
A relative told Stabroek News today that he had gone to the hospital for a minor medical procedure. His passing came as a complete shock to the family.
Sankies was a longstanding executive of the Guyana Association of Professional Engineers. He also served on the Faculty of Technology at the University of Guyana. An avid golfer he was also President of the Lusignan Golf Club.
