Dancing, singing in contract for next Bollywood act

A team of Guyanese and Euro-pean organizers has collaborated to offer what they describe as “a Real Bollywood Concert” which will feature four “mega acts” who are expected to sing and dance in true Bollywood style.

This new group, Lux Entertain-ment, in a report on GTvibes, said that contracts have been signed and the Guyana National Stadium at Providence has been booked for October 29, when Indian playback singer Sunidhi Chauhan, best known for her songs in films such as “Desi Girls”, “Sheila Ki Jawani”, “Aaja Nachle” and “Mere Mehboob” will perform live.

Neha Dhupia

Also among the performers will be actress Neha Dhupia, who appeared in supporting roles in films like “Chup Chup Ke”, “Ek Chalis Ki Last Local” and  “Singh is King”.

These two headlining acts will be accompanied by Indian actress and model Riya Sen, who began her acting career in 1991 as a child in the film “Vishkanya”. Her first commercial success was “Style”. Some of her other films include “Hinglish”, “Shaadi No 1”, and horror film “Ananthabha-dram”.

Rounding out the featured line-up is Rakshanda Khan, a former model, and television actress and anchor. She is better known for her role as Mallika Seth in “Jassi Jaisi Koi Nahin”. She will be the show’s emcee.

Public Relations Officer of the event, Mondale Smith told Stabroek News that he, along with Chandani Ramnarain, Head of the Apsara Dance Company, are joining with a friend from Holland to organize this event.

It was emphasized that the contract stipulates that the acts will run for no less than three hours and also that performers will sing and/or dance.

This concert, according to the GTvibes report, will offer three hours of live performances and is intended to redefine the concept of mega concerts in Guyana.

The last Bollywood star here, Shilpa Shetty disappointed the audience by not dancing. She sat on stage for most of her 45-minute appearance.
