Veteran engineer Melvyn “Mel” Sankies was yesterday laid to rest following a funeral service attended by Prime Minister Samuel Hinds and other dignitaries at the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception, Brickdam.

There were glowing tributes to Sankies, aeronautical engineer, executive member of the Guyana Association of Professional Engineers, Deputy Vice Chancellor of the University of Guyana,
