Man tells court ‘she slapped and choked me so I hit her’

A man who told the court “she slapped and choked me so I hit her” was on Monday placed on $40,000 bail after he appeared before Magistrate Sueanna Lovell at the Georgetown Magistrates’ court.

The allegation is that on September 2 at Middleton  Street, Newtown Kitty, Kumar Chintaman unlawfully assaulted Sussie Hussin.

It also alleged  that on the said day the accused also assaulted Natasha Rahaman.

The accused  pleaded not guilty. When given a chance to explain he said that he was climbing on a bench at his business premises when a beer bottle which was in his hand at the time fell on Rahaman. He further added that Hussin who saw what occurred started to kick his CBR motorcycle and he responded by telling her to stop but she became very annoyed and dealt him a slap and choked his neck. “So I push she off so that she could have stopped,” he added.

After hearing the defendant’s explanation the magistrate granted the accused $40,000 bail and the matter will be called again on November 1.
