A Prashad Nagar resident was yesterday placed on $250,000 bail on a charge of procuring a woman to become a common prostitute after he appeared before Chief Magistrate Priya Sewnarine-Beharry at the Georgetown Magistrates’ Court.
The allegation against 59-year-old Ramond Ali is that between November 10-12, 2010 and June 29, 2011, at the Red Dragon Hotel and Bar at Lot 53 Robb Street, Lacytown, he procured the woman to become a common prostitute.
The man was not required to plead to the indictable charge when it was read to him.
The matter will be called again on September 22.
