An employee of the Guyana Post Office Cooperation (GPOC) was yesterday charged with forging old age pension vouchers.

Yonette Marks was placed on $400,000 bail by acting Chief Magistrate Priya Sewnarine- Beharry after she was arraigned on two charges at the Georgetown Magistrates’ Court.

The allegation against Marks is that between September 1 and September 5, 2011, at Georgetown, with the intent to defraud, she conspired together with person or persons unknown to forge 85 old age pension vouchers. Additionally, the charge further alleges that between September 2 and September 5, being a clerk or servant employed by the GPOC, she stole the sum of $562,000, from the possession of her employer.

No further details of the charges were presented to the court.
Marks was not required to plead to the indictable charges when they were read to her and the case was transferred to Court Two for reports and fixtures.
