Two persons are dead and five injured in an early morning accident involving a truck that had just left Bartica for the mining fields in Region 7.
The identities of the dead are still to be ascertained but this newspaper was told that a woman is among them. She is suspected to be from Berbice. The driver of the vehicle is from Bartica, this newspaper was told by the resident.
Details on the accident are sketchy, but a Bartica resident told this newspaper that the it occurred at about 8 am just before the Itaballi Landing. According to the source, the truck was laden with fuel and other goods for the backdam.
