Agri ministry to sell sugar at mobile outlets from tomorrow

The Ministry of Agriculture, though the Guyana Marketing Corporation (GMC) will from tomorrow have mobile outlets at several locations across the country selling sugar.

This initiative comes as government makes moves to counteract reports of sugar shortages and wholesalers and distributors arbitrarily increasing the price for sugar, a release from the Ministry of Agriculture said.

From Saturday, the GMC will have mobile outlets at the GMC office at Robb Street and at the markets at Mon Repos, Rosignol and Port Mourant.

Meanwhile, “special teams from the Guyana Marketing Corporation and the Guyana Sugar Corporation will be investigating reports and take necessary action against those found guilty of hoarding sugar as there is adequate supply of sugar for local consumption,” the release said.
