FIFA ethics panel calls on Colin Klass

ZURICH  (AP) — Caribbean official Colin Klass has been summoned by FIFA to answer charges this week relating to $40,000 in bribes allegedly offered by former presidential candidate Mohamed bin Hammam.

FIFA says its ethics committee will hear Klass’ case on Friday.

FIFA provisionally suspended the Guyana football federation president last month pending a full investigation by former FBI director Louis Freeh’s agency.

Another 15 Caribbean officials under investigation are awaiting hearing dates.

Klass, a member of FIFA’s beach soccer committee, is a longtime ally of former FIFA vice president Jack Warner.

Klass attended bin Hammam’s campaign visit in Trinidad where bribes were allegedly offered.

FIFA’s appeals panel upheld bin Hammam’s lifetime ban last week.
