Cops destroy 2-acre ganja plot

Police on Sunday discovered a two-acre field of cultivated marijuana plants at St Cuthbert Mission Road, Soesdyke/Linden Highway.

According to a press release, the police were conducting a drug eradication operation when they discovered the field, which comprised about 15,000 plants ranging in height between 6 feet and 8 feet. Also, 1,000 kgs of dried cannabis and two nurseries with approximately 20,000 seedlings were found and destroyed along with the plants.

One man has been arrested and is in police custody assisting with the investigations, the release said.
