Police in shoot-out with copper cable thieves

Police say that at about 0500h today police ranks responded to a report received that three men were seen stealing copper wire at Better Hope South, ECD.
 
A police release today said that as the police patrol approached the men, they came under fire and they returned fire during which they managed to arrest one man while the other two escaped.  A quantity of cable was recovered by the police.
 
Subsequently at about 0550h. today Rosaline Lloyd, 43 years of Better Hope, ECD, reported to the police with a wound to her head and stated that she was in her home when she heard what sounded like gunshots and felt a burning sensation to her head, the police release said.

Theft of copper cable has been a major problem in recent years.
