Today, at 5:15 pm the highest tide for the year, at a height of 3.34 metres, will touch these shores.

The Government Information Agency (GINA) in a press release stated that the Ministry of Public Works and Communication is urging residents living in low-lying areas to take the necessary precautions. The spring tide period started on September 24 and ends on October 2.

The release said that the Chief Sea and River Defence Officer, Geoffrey Vaughn had revealed that tides over three metres are expected.

Residents in Plastic City, Vreed-en-Hoop, Leguan, Wakenaam, and Stanleytown, New Amsterdam, are especially asked to take particular note of and take the necessary precautions against these “extraordinary tides”, the release said.
