Pushcart music vendors agree to ‘tone down’

Pushcart music vendors agreed to reduce the size of their music amplifiers and to ‘tone down’, during a meeting with President Bharrat Jagdeo on Wednesday.

A Government Information Agency (GINA) press release said 25 vendors discussed this and other issues at a meeting convened to discuss what they believe to be a “fight down” by city police.

Music vendor Akim Smith told GINA that the meeting was merely to argue a case for allowing vendors to pursue their livelihood. Another meeting is scheduled for the next two weeks, the release said.

Minister of Home Affairs Clement Rohee and Minister of Transport and Hydraulics Robeson Benn also attended the meeting.
