‘Convict’ kidnapped, $1M ransom demanded

The police are investigating the alleged kidnapping of fisherman Rasheed Bridgemohan called “Convict”, 36, of North West District.

According to a police release, investigations so far revealed that at about 9.30 on Friday night last, Bridgemohan left his aunt’s home at Farm Squatting Area, East Bank Demerara, to go and a have a tattoo placed on his arm. The release said he has not been since.

Police said that at about 2.30 pm today, Bridgemohan’s aunt received a call on her house phone from a male caller who demanded the sum of $1 million for the safe return of her nephew.

Three more such calls were later received by the aunt, the release continued.

Investigations are in progress.
