Skeldon vendor accused of armed robbery

At the Springlands Court on Friday a 20-year-old vendor of the Skeldon market was placed on $120,000 bail on a charge of robbery under arms.

Lakeram Doodnauth appeared before Magistrate Krishndat Persaud at the Springlands Court.

It is alleged that around 7:30 am on Saturday, October 24, while armed with a gun he robbed Mohamed Yusuf of $200,000.

He was not required to plead to the offence.

Police Prosecutor, Sergeant Michael Grant asked for bail to be refused on the grounds of the nature, gravity and prevalence of the offence.

He informed the magistrate that the cash and the gun have not been recovered.

Doodnauth is scheduled to return to court on October 20 for report.
