Ship from Guyana busted again in Jamaica with cocaine

Anti-narcotics authorities in Jamaica yesterday uncovered more than 50 lbs of cocaine on board the vessel, MV Azurit which left Guyana on Sunday.

Reports are that the crew on board the Antigua and Barbuda-registered vessel is being probed in the latest incident. A container with a broken seal in which the cocaine was allegedly found is at the centre of the investigation.

The vessel which was recently intercepted with the prohibited substance on the Caribbean island has had a history of drug interceptions including the infamous $700M cocaine in timber bust which was made there in March this year.

The vessel left neighbouring Suriname for Jamaica with a scheduled stop here, last weekend, source noted.
